What's going on in my world right now...

Dear friends,

This is going to be short. I would be glad of your prayers. My father, who is 91 and in the dementia unit of a nursing home in another province, appears to have had a stroke, is unresponsive and apneic (if that's the word) and not likely to live very much longer.

The consolations of theology (philosophy too for that matter) have their limits.

Peace...

I understand something of what you are going through. I wish you many moments of beauty and love as your family comes together... and also comfort and peace during the struggles. Our prayers are with you.

You are in my prayers. No matter how old or sick, it's still hard to let them go to God (my mom was 88 when she died). Whatever happens, God be with you and him and your family.

When my Aunt first got sick, she and my Mum became close for the first time in their lives. And when Mum was dying, one of my cousins who hadn't spoken to her in years came and helped nurse her and kissed her goodbye. Now my Dad's dying, and my sister's talking to me again.

It didn't make losing any of them any less painful. But it did do something, each time, and they were each a gift from God.

May there be blessings for you and your family too, somehow -- you have my prayers.
